Q. What are the pickup, delivery or shipping options?
A. If you like you can pick your boat up here at AquaCraft. We can also ship it in a crate at freight rates or we can deliver it for you on one of our multi-boat delivery trailers.
We do have a very good method of keeping the cost down by delivering most of the boats ourselves and combining deliveries. (This helps keep the cost of delivery around $500 each.) It also gives us a chance to get to know each other a bit and answer questions for you. We assemble and install the rails for you when we deliver your new Little River Boat TM. It's our way of keeping your cost reasonable and getting a boat to you as quickly and carefully as possible.
Q. Do I need to pay all or part in advance? Payment options?
A. We do our best to alleviate the concern of making a large purchase over the internet by not charging any money (not even a down payment) for the boat or accessories until they are either picked up by you or are delivered to you by us. In the case of a boat shipped via freight, you have a choice of C.O.D. or payment in advance of loading on the truck.
We accept cash, check or money order. Currently, we do not accept credit cards. We realize this can be an inconvenience for some but we do it to avoid the credit card company transaction fees. It's a way to help keep The Little River Boat TM "Less Money -- More FUN!"
Q. Prices and how to order?
A. Just click on the "Contact Us" menu item -fill in the form- and we will email a letter titled “AquaCraft, Info Request.pdf” that answers most questions about prices, options and delivery if needed. We will also include a link to our "Order" page.
Or if you like, give us a call at 1 (800) 236-7930.
Q. Does AquaCraft have local dealers?
A. We do have a few dealers and will likely expand that network strategically.
Our success over the years has been in selling The Little River BoatTM factory direct all across the nation. Because we deliver such a high percentage of the boats we make -- we have had the opportunity to personally meet almost everyone who owns a Little River Boat TM.
When we deliver your boat we assemble and install the rails for you and answer any questions you have. Being there gives us a chance to get to know each other a bit too -- so if you give us a call later with a question, you know who you are talking to. It’s our way of keeping your cost reasonable and getting a boat to you as quickly and carefully as possible while adding a personal touch.
As you can see, our business model is unusual in todays world. AquaCraft, Inc. is a Family business that for over 2 decades, has maintained a very strong emphasis on outstanding customer relationships based on honesty, quality and a personal touch.
We have also been a member of the American Boat and Yacht Council, which sets safety standards for recreational water craft, since our founding.
Q. What kind of trailer is needed?
A. The Little River Boat TM is very easy and inexpensive to trailer. We do not manufacture or sell trailers but there are a number of good choices out there. You can pick up a small boat or utility trailer and easily convert it to carry a Little River Boat TM. All it takes is 1 - 4'x8' sheet of untreated plywood and several 2"x4"s. You can also use a double wide snowmobile trailer if they are available in your area.
All you need is a light duty trailer with a long enough tongue and flat surfaces to support the pontoons.
Q. Can I order a Little River Boat TM without the hand rails?
A. We do not sell The Little River Boat TM without hand rails because they are an integral part of the boat design as a whole. They are engineered and placed to meet ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) safety standards. They are also a great part of how we were able to make The Little River Boat TM so low profile, strong and light weight. Instead of having a heavy bridgework between round pontoons and the deck – which adds weight and height – we use the flat pontoon top as deck support and the hand rails as a superstructure. The rails keep the boat from flexing in a much more efficient manner than does traditional pontoon boat design.
Q. What are the "New Concept" flat bottom pontoons made of?
A. The pontoons on The Little River Boat TM are uniquely designed and constructed. The video on our web site will give you a visual gist of it's patented design. The flotation and structure of these "New Concept" pontoons comes from the foam blocks that fill the entire interior of the pontoon. In turn, the foam is protected by the outer layer of corrosion resistant Marine Aluminum. The solid foam supports the aluminum much better than an empty air chamber. The result is a strong, light weight, flat bottom (very stable) pontoon that won't sink even if punctured.
Q. Is the Deck made of plywood or aluminum?
A. We use specialty 5 ply, half inch, marine treated plywood for the decking. It is very strong and light weight. This decking is sealed to our new concept pontoons using a space age, structural - adhesive - sealant. The sealant remains pliable for the long term - even in very harsh environments. Many stainless steel fasteners are used to bring everything tightly together. Once cured, the deck and pontoons are "fused" and there to stay. This combination has proven very durable for more than 2 decades.
Q. Can pedestal or other fixed seats be installed?
A. Yes -- as long as they can be attached / anchored in the area of the deck between the pontoons where they can be bolted through the deck using large washers on the underside.
However, because The Little River Boat TM is rated at less than 10 horse power it doesn’t need to have incorporated, forward facing, locking seats. We leave the deck open to give our customers the flexibility to equip the boat according to their personal needs. Good, solid deck chairs, designed for outdoor or marine use, are strong, stable, light and easy to arrange. While these chairs are sufficiently stable when in place, they can also be easily added, removed or arranged on the deck as needed. This is all part of what makes The Little River Boat TM the most versatile small pontoon boat on the market.
Q. The boat seems low to the water, how does it handle in rough water?
A. Good question. The design allows the boat to cut through wake waves, etc. very well. I'm sure you have noted the way the nose of the pontoon angles up and has a flat side and bottom. That edge partially cuts waves and the boat rides the rest of the wave. That effectively takes the sharp rise and fall out of waves and allows for a smoother ride than you might expect from a boat this size.
I have, on occasion, met with fairly large waves and some water has washed up on deck -- it simply washes off again. There is no way to sink the boat that way. Because of the foam filled pontoons and the stability built into the design it is a very safe little boat. I have had no complaints on this in over 23 years. The Little River Boat TM is out there in many environments. While it is not made for "Big Water" we know it has been on some -- including large lakes, rivers and intra coastal waterways. Even the Gulf of Mexico.
Q. How shallow can the water be?
A. The Little River Boat TM floats -with no load- in about an inch of water. Fully loaded, about 4 inches. It is well suited to shallow water conditions. Like the river boats of old it is designed for stability and shallow draft -- hence the name. Its "just right" size combined with wide, flat bottom, foam filled pontoons, make it exceptionally light, stable and able to run (using an electric motor) in very shallow water. Q. What size motor can be used?
A. We currently make The Little River Boat TM available with two 2 different motor mounts (transoms).
The 5 Horse Power maximum capacity motor mount is a very nice aluminum unit. It is designed for small gas motors -- it's also perfect for electric motors on lakes, ponds and streams where gas motors are either not allowed or are not practicable. It's our best seller.
The 9.9 Horse Power maximum capacity motor mount is a heavy duty under slung aluminum unit that is designed to well exceed its rating. The unique design of The Little River Boat TM assures that it performs well under power. This is an excellent upgrade.
Q. Is there a warranty for The Little River Boat TM?
